James B. Aswell Jr. and family papers, 1899-1960.

The James B. Aswell Jr. and Family Papers contain correspondence, manuscripts of published and unpublished literary works, newspaper clippings, printed materials, and scrapbooks documenting Aswell's literary career and interests. The Sam Houston Jones Political Papers (boxes 1-2) concern the Louisiana gubernatorial campaign of 1940 and Jones' governorship from 1940 to 1944. The papers include correspondence, printed campaign materials, manuscripts of campaign and other speeches, and manuscripts of political articles written by Jones with Aswell's assistance. The James B. Aswell Sr. Papers (box 3) include family, business, and political correspondence (1908-1931) and materials concerning the administration of Aswell's estate (1931-1938).
